The desire to provide students with self-regulating learning material in differential calculus underscores the development of this worktext Beginners’ Calculus: A Modular Approach. It consists of 17 chapters of self-contained lessons, which include understanding functions, limits, continuity, the derivative, differentiation rules, higher-order derivatives, implicit differentiations, and applications of the derivatives to real-life problems. Each chapter has a pretest and a posttest so learners can somehow gauge the calculus agency they acquire from the lesson presentations. A special feature of this worktext is the translanguaging implemented where sidenotes are written in Filipino to explain particular topics.
