Summary: Turning thirteen is never easy. And for Lilian Iris Pinkerton it's twice as hard. Lillian is the tallest girl in her class, and lately growing seems to be what she does best. She has hopes, though, that three carefully thought our birthday wishes will change her luck. First. she wants a bra without having to give her mother a detailed explanation of "whatever for" second, she wants to dance with a boy. And third, she wants to make the Pom squad, a dream she's had forever. When her first two wishes come true, Lillian begins to believe in magic. But the third wish is tricky. Making the Pom squad takes more than magic. It requires cool nerves, hard work, a great smile, and practice, practice, practice. Does Lillian have what it tales to be a "winner" for the first time in her life?
